Digitized Oculus Rift divides the world In visual fantasy, Slip on the headset, hide away, Escape your cries and fears. Choose your prison carefully: Drink or drugs or sex, Or slip into a headset Made for total ecstasy. Skip the chance of paradise To choose an earthly hell, Creating crime and zones of fear, In teams or on your own. So what’s the point of fantasy? To choose a worse reality? To fill the crevice of our mind: Our insecurities. What creatures we who cannot live The life that we create? Fractured souls devoid of light Will not participate. We hide our heads, our thoughts and love In fear and doubt and pain, Waiting for the day when we Will see the light again. N Greenham |
About These Pieces
This set were made using a roller, masking tape and cut paper with gouache paint.
Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset. When I wrote the poem, this new gadget had just made the headlines, and the paintings seemed to capture the fractured nature of our our lives. I was intrigued by the increasing amount of things we turn to to escape our physical reality.
The background of these paintings is alive; the paper is not bleached so it will continue to colour slightly as it ages although the paint colours will not change. I find this kind of living painting fascinating, but if you prefer to keep the white background, consider buying a print or canvas instead of the original.
Original Painting
These original paintings are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist. They are unframed. If you prefer to have your art arrive ready to hang, am very happy to advise and organise framing for you.
I know it can be difficult to decide if a painting will look right in your room. Apps like WallApp can help you upload an image of your room so you can see what the painting will look in your home. In addition, you can rest assured that if you change your mind within 7 days of receiving the set you can return them for a full refund excluding postage. Delivery is available worldwide and the paintings are securely packaged for transit. The price of the set does not include shipping; once you have reserved the piece with payment I will contact you directly to discuss your delivery needs at a time that suits you.
Care: As with any indoor artwork, keep out of direct sunlight,
