 What Materials Will I Need?

Every week you'll need  a basic toolkit of paint and collage materials but if you don't have something to hand, don't worry, we'll work round it:

  • Paper and pen to make notes
  • Plenty of paper or card to work on. Wallpaper lining paper is good, or sugar paper, watercolour paper, mixed media paper etc. A3 is a good size, but you could work bigger on A2 or slightly smaller on A4
  • Pencil for sketching (any)
  • Paint – water based eg acrylic, gouache or ready mix paint.
  • Brushes -  large, small, hard and soft - a pack of children’s brushes is ideal.
  • Water pot
  • Plastic tray or paper plates to use as a palette
  • Selection of magazines and coloured and textured papers for collage, this could include leaflets, newspapers, old wrapping paper, food labels etc
  • Kitchen towel for keeping things clean
  • Scissors
  • Glue eg Pritt stick
  • It’s a good idea to cover your surfaces with a sheet, and wear an apron and gloves as things might get messy.

Each week you'll also need to gather some household items to make marks with (we will be getting paint on them)
YOU DON'T HAVE TO BRING THEM ALL, these examples are just to give you inspiration:

Workshop reviews:

Really enjoyed the art workshop. I found it interesting seeing what the other people in the group produced and to see how different everyone’s art was.  I would definitely recommend the class to other friends and would like to do another class too. Jackie

This workshop was super. It gave me the confidence to experiment with techniques, and gave me the inspiration to carry on creating art afterwards. Lynda
